TV Sound 8:00 [Kearny, NJ|Killing Horse Records] : Long a part of the Hudson County music scene in various guises, the members of tv sound came together in the late 90s to craft the seminal Record Jacket Life, a triumphant garage-rock tribute–complimented with tasteful nods to The Clash and The Jam–to their hometown of Kearny, NJ. Soon after, however, they disbanded.
Then, sometime in 2012-13, Mike Sylvia of Killing Horse Records and Life Eaters willed his three-piece boyhood heroes back into existence. In relatively quick fashion, the band released Amber Glass High and proved that, though they had lain dormant for the better part of a decade, they were just as loud and powerful as before. Their debut Record Jacket Life has recently been re-released by Killing Horse Records for your listening pleasure. Presently, the band is working on new material and playing locally. Jeff May – Guitars and Vocals | Dave Dell – Bass and Vocals
Paul B. – Drums
The Big Easy 8:50 [Bergen County] is an indie rock project fronted by Stephen Berthomieux. Stephen began performing material as The Big Easy in July of 2013. His current line up are, Jesse Minikes, TJ Alamio, and Ori Yukutiel, who share the stage and contribute to studio work. The Big Easy’s debut album, “A Handful of Friends” was released digitally on June 1st 2014. Currently, The Big Easy is working on a 7″ split with Big Neil (Tom Warren of The Front Bottoms solo effort) and booking tour dates.
Stuyvesant 9:40 [Hoboken,NJ] Rejoice, and let Stuyvesant (pronounced sty-vas-ent) take you on a spin through the bars and backyards of the Garden State. Listeners familiar with the ‘90s Hoboken scene will remember singer/guitarist Ralph Malanga from the band Footstone and singer/guitarist Sean Adams and bassist Brian Musikoff from the Jersey City-based Friends, Romans, Countrymen. At the advent of the 2000s, these indie rock veterans teamed up with drummer Pete Martinez (proprietor of Hoboken’s Drum Den) as Stuyvesant, and picked up where they left off with their respective former groups, continuing the pursuit of perfect power riffage, rousing choruses, and impassioned vocals. Stuyvesant lifted its name from the liquor store Sean worked at growing up in the Journal Square section of Jersey City. Ironically, only later did they discover that on February 5, 1663, Nicholas Varlett obtained from Peter Stuyvesant a patent for the first brewery in America, located on Castle Point in Hoboken, NJ. Perfercto mundo!
