Please join us for our 2nd annual Bock Beer Night, a celebration of spring, bock beer, and goats! The Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery is summer home to a lovely herd of goats who spend the season at the cemetery helping to maintain the grounds the old fashioned way – by eating the grass and weeds. A portion of this events proceeds will directly benefit “Bring Back the Kids” 2016 Eco-Friendly Weed Eradication Project for the cemetery.
can’t make the date – please donate www.jerseycitycemetery.org
Cemetery crew will be on hand from 6pm to 10pm. Prizes will be raffled off! Enter the goat-naming contest! Become a goat sponsor!
Every bock beer sold on 3/31 benefits the Cemetery, from 12 noon (open) until we close for the night.
Bockbier originated at the Einbeck Brewery in Bavaria in the 1600s and its name allegedly came from Germans in Munich misunderstanding the brewery name, which when spoken with a thick Bavarian accent sounded like “Ein Bock” or “Billy Goat”!
