First a Big Thanks to everyone who came out to Last Saturday Night at Porta Last Saturday Night. I’ll be back every Last Saturday [mark you calendars for 03-28 unless you can only make plans based on your Instagram account, then check back in 23 days]. This weekend, and maybe this blog is made just for you then. Tomorrow is JC Fridays and unless you are donning skis, it’s hard to see it all. Just as well, it’s hard for me to list it all, and that why the conspiratorial artists at Art House Productions, who plotted this event, have things listed for you here www.JCFridays.com. My Gig is Live Music, so at Lucky’s we are Hosting a Handful of Friends with Stuyvesant, The Big Easy and TV Sound we start just after 8pm, set your watches, I’m not in the business of making people wait or waiting for people dig ? Also on the live music circuit, JC Studios presents 143 Alive ! [143 Columbus Ave] hosts Drum and Tantrum, Lip Action and Vomitface. If Jazz and a plate of Fish Fry is your thing head uptown for Fabulous Uptown Music | JC Originals JAZZ with Guest Curator Peter Lin at Moore’s Lounge on Monticello. On the West Side of Town, the Park Tavern hosts A West Side Story – Music and Street Art, with Live Music by the One and Nines and a Muralistic View of Jersey City via Jayne Freeman [aka Jayne West aka Mamarama]. Finally, but not finally, you can check out The Karyn Kahl Band and the Lincoln Inn. I think that covers most of Jersey City behind the mike for you.
There are plenty of great art pics as well, with exhibits at Balance Hair Salon, Art House Productions, Silverman Building, Project Greenville, LITM, Frog Dreams at 58 Gallery, Piersanti “pop secret!” at Porto Lounge, the Brunswick window.. like I said get yourself a pair of ski’s and it’s all yours, at least that’s what we’ve been told 🙂 Thanks for letting me know, because I was just sitting around waiting for the green light for the last 20 years.
Did I loose you yet, wanna take a second and check your e-mail or your twitter account ? Okay let’s carry on if we can, if you want to leave me here, I understand. Well good, sticking with me is good at this point because tonight is Ladies Night at Lucky’s and if cheap booze and some good tunes can possibly shake you out of your “I am so tired of your winter crybaby” routine. It works for me at least. It works so well, I’m returning Saturday Night for a going away DJ party with Mike Waffle on Saturday Night, he’s heading out to Portland, DJ William McCamie takes on Industry night this Sunday and next Monday marks the return of the monthly Metal Mondays with Metal Moranis [Justin Bornstein].
Now I’m going to go a little far here and mention next Saturday the 14th. For those mathematically inclined, 3.14 is π Day or Pie Day and I’m starting out the day at Liberty Science Center for a delicious LCCS Fundraiser at noon. Later that night, I’ll be Chaperoning SHOES OFF ! Sock Hop party at Union Republic with DJ’s Sexy Lexy and Arthur P. things start at 9 pm. Need an outfit ? head to Another Man’s Treasure and mention the party for a discount.
