About the bands…..
8:30 Mr. Flannery & His Feelings [ Rhyme & Reason Records ] So what sort of feelings do you associate with rock music, anyway? Joy? Anger? Excitement? Lust? Mr. Flannery has the basics covered. But how about the wistful, bittersweet feeling of existence in transit that a passenger might experience on a trans-Pacific freight liner? What about the ambiguity and anxiety of a first sexual encounter? The chilly isolation of Maine in midwinter? The audacity of a groom getting gymnastic on the dancefloor at his own wedding? The righteous rage of a killer fighting fish? For these feelings — and many others — there’s nowhere to turn but Mr. Flannery’s music. Here’s an adult who approaches grown-up stories with the urgency of a teenager — an experienced performer and producer who is making the most of his first turn in the spotlight by expressing his complicated feelings as boldly and broadly as he can.
9:20 Fascinations Grand Chorus [ All Things Go – Jersey City/Brooklyn] Two rival songwriters / One audio pop experiment. FGC plays in support of their upcoming EP “Anglesea” With influences The Misfits, The Beach Boys, Black Sabbath, 1910 Fruitgum Co., Ohio Express, Don Rich, Ronnie Tutt
10:10 Bad Penny – Bad Penny is a minimal-wave influenced synth duo. Bright melody lines undercut by harsh yet melodic analog synths and minimal rhythms. Punk-influenced growls with lyrics fueled by the anxiety and harshness of American city life.
11:00 International Override Punk rockers get down. Hip hoppers get up. Naturally diverse. Energetic and urban. International Override’s fused elements of soul, funk, punk, rap, and even revivalist ska has the uplift mojo party plan in check.
Genre is definitely an afterthought; an initial concept. Not a definition. International Override evokes the antagonist in each of us and encourages free thought.
